JPRS issued a statement jointly with world technical community coalition looking back the UN-led Global Digital Compact development process (11 October 2024)
On 11 October 2024, JPRS, along with global technical community members (TCCM [*1]), issued a statement on the Global Digital Compact in response to the adoption of the "Pact for the Future,"[*2] including the Global Digital Compact (GDC), at the UN Summit of the Future[*3] held in New York in September 2024.
The statement welcomes the GDC's recognition of the importance of keeping the Internet open, global, interoperable, stable, and secure, as well as the participation of technical community as a relevant stakeholder group that must be fully involved in addressing key issues of the Internet Governance. Also, it welcomes the GDC of its reaffirming that the IGF remains the most important platform for such discussions.
While welcoming the output, the statement also notes that there was room for greater involvement of stakeholders in the GDC development process.
