Dr. Kazunori Fujiwara of JPRS Received an Award from the Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC)
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kazunori Fujiwara of JPRS has received the 2024 Information and Communication Technology Award TTC Chairman's Commendation from the Telecommunications Technology Committee (TTC).
TTC is one of the Standard Development Organizations (SDOs) in Japan that handles standardization of information and communications networks. The TTC issues the award annually to honor those who have made significant contributions to the creation of standards for information and telecommunications networks and their dissemination, as well as to the execution of projects that are in line with the TTC's objectives.
This year's award to Fujiwara is in recognition of his "achievements in the standardization of the Internet Domain Name System".
Fujiwara has been working on the standardization activities related to the Domain Name System (DNS) since 2002. His activities include important RFCs such as "RFC 8198: Aggressive use of DNSSEC-validated Cache", which describes increasing name resolution performance by using DNSSEC mechanisms, and "RFC 9499: DNS Terminology", which defines the terms used in the DNS in a single document. He has been a long-time and continuous leader and contributor to global standardization activities.
He is also author/co-author of 4 RFCs related to Email Address Internationalization (EAI), which have been implemented in major email services and have contributed significantly to the promotion of the Internet usage in non-English speaking countries.
In addition to standardization activities, he has been working on DNS traffic analysis since 2010, and has contributed both domestically and internationally on the academic side through presentations and research papers published in IEEE COMPSAC, etc. In August 2018, he became a member of the ICANN RSSAC Caucus and actively promoted various activities that lead to the stable operation of the root DNS servers in a way that makes use of his expertise as a DNS researcher and engineer.
In January 2022, in recognition of his high level of involvement and significant contributions, he was named one of the inaugural recipients of the ICANN "RSSAC Caucus Member Recognition".
JPRS will continue to contribute to the global Internet community as a company that supports the infrastructure of the network.
