JPRS Executes an Agreement Concerning JP Domain Name Dispute Resolution, with JPNIC and Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center
On March 29, JPRS executed an agreement regarding JP domain name dispute resolution, with JPNIC and Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center. On April 1, 2002, JPRS will succeed management and administration of .JP top-level domain from JPNIC. This agreement is necessary to securely conduct dispute resolution regarding JP domain names, and will replace the two-party agreement between JPNIC and Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center. JPNIC is to develop dispute resolution policy, and to approve organizations thatwill take responsibility for dispute resolution; JPRS is to follow those policies. This agreement stipulates that JPNIC endorses Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center as a dispute resolution organization, that Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center will undertake dispute resolution responsibilities, and that JPRS will provide procedural support necessary for implementating the resolution. This enables JP domain name to be secure with the support of the disputeresolution policy and procedures.
